BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - It was the first big shooting fundraiser for Palmetto Bluff, and it benefited the Boys and Girls Club of Bluffton.
The Palmetto Bluff shooting range just opened up in March and about 52 people shot clays Friday to help raise money for the boys and girls.
"It's just a great organization to support. Anything worth giving is worth giving back for the boys and girls for the less fortunate and people and families that need some help," said Michael Perry, Director of the Palmetto Bluff Shooting Club. "Create a quality event to support the Boys and Girls Club but also have a really fun activity for the people that are shooting today, to enjoy themselves and have a really good time."
The money supports different programs for the club.
"Everything from our explorer program to our reading programs to other character, leadership, and academic success programs," said Michael Garcia, President of the Boys and Girls Club Bluffton, Jasper.
Garcia said it's so important to give.
"The Boys and Girls Club provides a great after school service for kids. It's a safe, fun environment for them and they're productive," he said.
Before the event kicked off, the crowd was treated to some trick shots.
The fundraising goal is $25,000.
