CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - Trick or treating got started a little early over at Savannah-Chatham Metro Police's Island's Precinct.
Kids and their families got the chance to stock up on candy, meet McGruff the Crime Dog and even see Special Ops displays at the precinct's 3rd annual event.
"It's such a great opportunity for us to connect with people at a young age in such a positive way and just get to experience a holiday together," said APO Hillary Nielsen, SCMPD.
"It's very nice to see the police involved with the community in a different aspect than normal. It's nice to be able to interact with the officers and get to know the personal side of them as well," said Joe Melton, Savannah.
Metro's goal Friday night was to offer kids a safe and fun place to show off their costumes and trick or treat.
