Authorities in Liberty County are trying to find out why a three-year-old girl was left alone in Forsyth Park over the weekend and the Hinesville group home in charge of the toddler didn't realize she was gone until they were notified by police.
This is Kiara Davis. She was found by a Savannah woman Saturday, near the corner of Whitaker and West Gwinnett Streets.
Savannah-Chatham police say she was left there while out on a field trip with the Gabriel House. She wasn't discovered missing until six hours later, when Hinesville police got a tip after someone saw her picture on television.
Officers woke the people at the home up. They did a bed count and that's when they figured out Kiara was missing.
The little girl has been transferred to the Liberty County DFACS center after spending Saturday night at Chatham County's facility.
People at the Gabriel House say they have no comment on the incident.
