SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The City of Savannah celebrated the opening of a new playground on the south side of Savannah Monday.
City and neighborhood leaders held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Joseph Tribble Park on Largo Drive.
Alderman Tony Thomas, who represents the 6th District, hosted the event and says these playgrounds and parks a vital to our community.
"Well I mean these are critical. These are family improvements. These bring families together and all and I've heard already this little park has been enjoyed already by some kids that went to Facebook afterwards and talked about what a great day they had. These are the types of things we need to be doing in neighborhoods and communities to bring people together and do the type of things that we need to do to keep families strong," said Alderman Thomas.
The City of Savannah maintains 57 different playgrounds throughout the community, in addition to nearly 200 acres of parks and more than a dozen community centers.
