Fire Captains' pay lawsuit against City of Savannah may go to trial

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A big update on the lawsuit Savannah fire captains filed against the City of Savannah about pay.

Looks like despite the city's efforts to have the case thrown out, the case may go to trial after all.

The Supreme Court of Georgia Monday denied the city's request to review the decision of the Court of Appeals.

The Court of Appeals ruled local courts should hear the case.

About 50 fire captains filed a lawsuit against the City of Savannah last year because in many cases they say their subordinates make more money than they do even though they argue the pay policy says they should make 10 percent more.

At hand, whether the pay policy is a contract or just a guideline when it comes to paying fire fighters.

The City of Savannah can file a motion for reconsideration.
