SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Mexican-Americans celebrating "Dia de los Muertos" all across the country Monday, including here in Savannah.
Monday at Armstrong State University, many gathered in the Student Union ballroom to mark the "Day of the Dead".
The traditional Mexican celebration honors those who have died with decorated altars, festivities, food and parties.
"Their life, their memories, everything they brought to us when they were living. It's a great way for us to have closure. We feel as though they are with us here today," said Elizabeth De La Pena, Coordinator of Hispanic Outreach and Retention.
The event marked the beginning of Diversity Week at Armstrong State University.
