SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Three-term Incumbent Van Johnson was hoping to hold on to his District 1 seat for another four-year term.
Johnson was challenged by Longshoreman and Savannah native, Bernetta Lanier.
Johnson easily won the race with 65.32 percent of the vote.
"I've tried to be authentic. I've tried to be transparent and really working to connect with people. I've been sent to a seat. I didn't send myself. It's my goal to continue to work with neighborhoods, continue to work with businesses, continue to work with young people and address the issues our community faces," said Johnson.
