SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - City Council District 2 Incumbent, Mary Osborne, has faced plenty of challengers in her first three terms on council.
This election was no exception. Bill Durrence won the race with 44.29 percent of the vote. Osborne had 29.15 percent, Detric Leggett had 23.04 percent, and Patterson had 3.47 percent.
"It would have been nice to be done this evening but I'm happy to be in the runoff. We'll have to spend the next few weeks canvasing, knocking on doors talking to people. We'll probably a couple of more mailers out. But we are having our team meeting on Friday morning to plot where we go from here," said Durrence.
"I expected a run off with four people in the race, though in my first election there were four people in the race and I've won without a runoff. Times have changed. The district has changed tremendously in terms of size and composition so I expected a run off," said Osborne.
There will be a runoff between Durrence and Osborne on Dec. 1.
