CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - The attorney for Maxine Evans is seeking a reduced sentence before she faces a judge Friday.
Just last month, the former Chatham County deputy sheriff was convicted for her role in the death of Matthew Ajibade.
Right now, Evans faces up to 20 years in jail.
Her attorney wants her sentence reduced to five years on each count, two years on probation and three suspended.
The counts she's facing are for public records fraud and perjury.
