SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Tons of runners are lining up inside the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center to pick up their packets for this weekend's 5th annual Rock n' Roll Marathon.
Registration stands between 20,000 to 21,000, but there could be more Thursday and Friday.
Runners eagerly waited for the doors to open Tuesday afternoon. You can't get your registration packet anywhere else so the tables will be busy.
In fact, organizers urge anybody who's registered to come out Thursday before 7 p.m. instead of waiting for Friday because that's when all the tourist runners will arrive and the place will be even busier.
Whether it's getting here or getting around Savannah this weekend, patience and planning will be key.
"There will be road closures. But we'll have rolling closures so we'll open back up as quickly as we can. We have a lot of people in town to enjoy Savannah. Patience will be key. Walk downtown and cheer on a runner. Use your bike instead of driving," said Event Manager Erica Wood.
