Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department’s Robbery Unit and Violent Crimes detectives are investigating three robberies occurring on Oglethorpe Avenue Thursday between 9 p.m. and midnight.
Friday morning, SCMPD received reports of an armed robbery and cutting on Oglethorpe Avenue and Abercorn Street that occurred close to midnight on Thursday. Two people were walking together when an armed suspect demanded one victim’s purse. The second victim tried to interfere and was cut. The cutting victim was treated at Memorial Health for a non-life threatening injury.
The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, standing about 6 feet 1 inch with a slender build. He was wearing a hat and dark colored shirt.
SCMPD responded to a reported armed robbery on the 700 block of West Oglethorpe Avenue. The suspect demanded the victim’s belongings and the victim complied. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle driven by a second suspect. They were last seen crossing the Talmadge Bridge into South Carolina.
The first suspect is described as a black male, early 20s. Stands between 6 feet and 6 feet 3 inches, with an average to muscular build. He wore a black hoodie and black jeans, with a black bandana over his face.
The second suspect is a black male in his early 20s with a light complexion. He was wearing a black polo and driving a white 2012 Chevy Impala.
SCMPD responded to a third armed robbery reported on the 200 block of West Oglethorpe Avenue. A male subject entered the female victim’s office requesting food.
An airsoft pistol resembling a gun was presented. The suspect grabbed a cell phone and fled.
The phone was traced to the 500 block of Hartridge Steet, where the suspect was apprehended with the phone still in his possession. Richard Conyers, 21, was arrested and charged with armed robbery.
