Operation Role Model Works for Positive Influence

Children need all of the encouragement they can get and that's why the director of Operation Role Model, Rico Brown, is trying to have a positive influence on a group of sixth graders from West Chatham Middle School. He's teaching them social skills, like staying out of fights, negotiating, and apologizing for bad behavior.

"Operation Role Model is the name of the organization, but our slogan is be your own role model," Brown said. "So what we instill in our youth is the best person you can look up to is yourself."

Operation Role Model was founded in Chatham County in 1991. Members will be working with the West Chatham Middle School students for the next 17 weeks.
