CLAXTON, GA (WTOC) - Communities across our area paid tribute Wednesday to those who served.
Veterans went to Claxton High School for their annual observance, which has become a community-wide event and a time for veterans of different generations to gather.
Claxton High's own Dr. Eddie Ball, an Air Force veteran, delivered the address. He said The War on Terror has changed many students perception of veterans as being people from World War II, Vietnam or Korea.
"We know that those older gentlemen in the hats paved the way for other veterans to follow. But we also pray for those veterans that are still over there fighting for our freedom," said Dr. Ball.
A color guard from Fort Stewart took part in the program as well.
