BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - The town of Bluffton has two new council members.
Harry Lutz and Dan Wood beat out Incumbent Councilman Ted Huffman in a runoff election Tuesday.
Wood got the top vote with almost 40 percent of the voters – followed by Lutz who received 34 percent. We caught up with both of the candidates after they got the good news.
"I'm glad it's over. I'm tired, and my phone's been blowing up the last couple of hours. We worked extremely hard. We stayed very, very positive throughout the campaign and obviously since we were the top vote getter twice in a row, our message resonated," said Wood.
"My community of Hampton Hall was very supportive and came out, and I think that was the difference. That they did support me. I'm very thankful and very humbled," said Lutz.
Wood and Lutz say they plan on focusing on creating affordable housing in Bluffton and economic development.
