Okatie resident expected a wreck but got a shooting

JASPER CO., SC (WTOC) - Searching for clues in a case where a man says he was the victim of road rage.

The man was found shot near his car on Short Cut Road in Okatie on Monday morning.

Short Cut Road links Okatie Hwy, or SC Hwy170, to Argent Blvd, and a resident on the road tells WTOC she thought it was wreck when she woke up to sirens and flashing lights, but when the news came out it was shooting just feet from where she and her four year old live, she was in disbelief.

Lanie O'Quinn said, "If you want to get that mad over something, there's no point. Your life is worth more. It's like people who rob and steal; what's the point?  You're going to get caught!"

The shooting victim was flown to the hospital.  If you were driving on Okatie Highway on Monday morning around 6 a.m. near Okatie Elementary School and noticed anything, please call the Jasper County Sheriff's Office at 843.726.7777.
