SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Patrick Swayze's widow is in Savannah Thursday with an important message.
Lisa Niemi Swayze spoke at Memorial Health's luncheon focused on pancreatic cancer.
Her late husband, actor Patrick Swayze, died of the disease in 2009 and now she's making it her mission to make people aware of the warning signs like yellowing eyes, constant pain in the stomach area and unexplained weight loss.
She also wants people to know they can make a difference in finding a cure.
"We have a lot of walks, it's writing your representatives, it's just talking about it and becoming aware," she said.
The luncheon was a fundraiser to benefit patient care and pancreatic cancer research at the Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial.
