SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The smell of sweet potato pies filled the halls of Myers Middle School Thursday.
Students along with parents and teachers got to baking, all part of the "Pies for the Needy" project. Until 8 p.m. Thursday, students were delivering the pies to local shelters.
"Community service, teamwork and they're all having fun. If you look at them over there right now, they're enjoying themselves as well. This is an example of after school work where our kids are actually doing something positive for themselves and for the community," said Vera Young, Myers Middle School business and computer teacher.
This year also marks the 21st year for the project.
