Many saying goodbye to Cpl. William Solomon

HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) - Family, friends, and fellow law enforcement officers said their final goodbyes to Georgia Port Authority Officer Cpl. William Solomon.

Many got pretty emotional as those who came out to pay their respects listened to inspirational songs sung by the Live Oak Church of God choir.

"Our actions on Earth, they light our path to eternity. So we know where Will is. God bless him and God bless his family," said Georgia Port Authority Head of Security Kevin Doyle.

Solomon passed away last week after being hit by a truck at the Ports while directing traffic back in March.

"Have you ever met somebody, that when you saw them you knew they were doing exactly what they were supposed to be doing? I have, his name was Cpl. William Solomon," said Georgia Port Authority Chief Operating Officer Griffith Lynch.

Solomon served as a deputy in Liberty County before working for the ports.

A long line of law enforcement vehicles led the way from the church to his final resting place at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
