An investigation is underway after a motorcyclist was killed in a wreck near Mall Boulevard in Savannah Thursday night.
Savannah-Chatham Metro Police officers say the motorcyclist died at the scene after a wreck involving an SUV. According to police, Tajon Alford, 22, was
traveling east on Mall Boulevard on a Kawasaki motorcycle. Ray Dean, 71, was traveling north to enter Mall Boulevard in a 2014 Dodge Durango.
Dean made a left turn onto Mall Boulevard when the motorcycle collided with the driver side of Dean’s vehicle. Alford was ejected from his motorcycle.
Alford was transported to Memorial where he was pronounced dead. Dean and his two adult passengers were not injured in the accident.
The area between Hodgson Memorial Drive and Waters Avenue was shut down for hours due to the investigation. It has since reopened to traffic.
This is the second wreck involving a motorcycle in 24 hours.
