SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - A new multi-use trial is in the works for the City of Savannah, and local officials are looking for your input.
Officials held an open house at Jenkins High School Thursday evening to showcase the plans and get feedback.
The 10-foot wide path will ultimately run from Lake Mayer to Daffin Park, and the responsibility for building the trail is split between the county and the city. Nearly $2 million in federal funding is already allocated for the project.
The response Thursday night was mixed but mostly positive, and residents just want it to be done right.
"If they spend the money, take the time, do the planning, and it's done right, it could be a nice thing. It's kind of like the tide. I feel like it's coming whether we want it or not, so you might as well enjoy it," said Allison Johnston, lives near proposed trial.
County engineers estimate construction of the trail will begin in spring of 2017.
