CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - Some Savannah-Chatham County Public School students could be human spell checkers.
The competition was fierce at the spelling bee at Coastal Middle School on Whitemarsh Island Friday. The students have been preparing to compete for quite some time and their hard work payed off.
The winner Friday, 8th grader Catherine Knight.
"It was a lot because all my friends were looking at me in the audience. I try not to focus on who was watching and what they were thinking. I just tried to focus on remembering the words and remembering spelling," said Knight.
WTOC's Mike Cihla served as the word pronouncer.
