SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Congressman Buddy Carter visited our area this weekend.
He attended the funeral services in Jesup Saturday for Georgia native Shannon Brown who was killed in the San Bernardino shooting saving a coworker.
Carter said it was an emotional service for the tight knit community, and he touched on the fact that we live in a dangerous world and terrorism impacts everyone.
"Often we think of terrorism impacting those in other parts of the country but that's not true at all. It impacts us right her in the first congressional district, I mean here's one of our own who died a hero, an American hero using his body to shield a coworker from an onslaught of bullets," said Carter.
Carter just recently voted to strengthen a visa waiver program to close security gaps and combat terrorist travel.
