Sixth Grade Ball Player to Visit Holland

It's the great American pastime, and a young Low Country baseball player's taking his game to Europe. Eleven-year-old Austin McGhee will leave his home in Beaufort, South Carolina, for a 13-day trip to Holland.

After a rigorous application process, the Bolden Elementary sixth grader will get the opportunity to play baseball with children from 26 other countries in a mini Olympics.

It's all part of the People to People Sports Ambassador program, an international program designed to expose children to different cultures.

"I'm excited because I'll meet different people and see different cultures in Holland," Austin said. "Hope I'll learn a little Dutch."

In order to attend the Friendship Games, Austin must raise $4,000.
