BRYAN CO., GA (WTOC) - Nearly 200 fifth graders celebrated the end of a course that prepares them for life outside a classroom.
Students from Bryan County Elementary marked the end of their 12-week CHAMPS program. Students learn about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, internet safety, avoiding gangs and bullying.
The Bryan County Sheriff's Office has been teaching the course at the school since 2008.
"To see those students now at the high school and middle school, and they tell me they still use the things they learned back then," said Deputy David Hicks, Bryan County Sheriff's Office.
WTOC's Dal Cannady served as the featured speaker and encouraged the students to remember what they learned beyond just the end of the course.
