SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System Campus Police Department is spreading lots of cheer this holiday season.
They collected boxes full of toys from area schools to help put a smile on the faces of sick children and their families at the Ronald McDonald House in Savannah. They delivered those toys on Friday.
"Our families get to come up and go up on a shopping spree. Every year we're told the same thing. Our parents are in tears about never being able to do this because it's not just about the child in the hospital. It's about the siblings at home and their other children, even trying to do something for each other as a mom and dad. We want every person here on Christmas Day to be able to open at least one present," said Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire Executive Director Bill Sorochak.
Officers also cooked a lunchtime meal for the families, thanks to food donations from a number of area stores.
