Deadly shooting under investigation at nightclub in Screven Co.

SCREVEN CO., GA (WTOC) - The Screven County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting.

Antonio Walker, 21, was killed at The Zone Bar and Grill Sunday morning.

WTOC spoke with someone who was here at the club that night. They did not want to be identified, but said you'd find Antonio Walker here almost every weekend. They couldn't imagine why anyone would shoot him in the middle of the parking lot.

Deputies responded to 911 reports of a shooting at the nightclub on U.S. Highway 301, locally known as "The Spot", about three miles from Sylvania. No sign marks "The Zone" or "The Spot", but people pack this place every weekend. While the door warns - no guns, no fighting - those led to Walker's death.

"There was a fight between two females. Two, or more, males tried to break it up. They ended up fighting from that. Some person drew a firearm and fired several times," said Screven County Sheriff Mike Kile.

At least one shot hit Walker and killed him. Sheriff Kile says his investigators have some leads on a shooter. They aren't sure if the man knew Walker or even intended him as the target.

"It was an utterly senseless killing," said Sheriff Kile. "We have two families that will be almost completely destroyed by this, the sheer stupidity of a shooting."

The Sheriff's Office has asked the GBI to help.

If you have any information about the shooting, call authorities.
