CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - A local non-profit dedicated to making sure children don't go hungry is helping in another way this holiday season.
"Blessings in a Bookbag" gave away more than 200 hundred toys Tuesday to needy families in Garden City.
The organization is known for giving food to students, who may go hungry over the weekends, when they aren't fed in school. But hundreds of toys were given to these same children, thanks to many sponsors and secret Santa.
"One of the things that's been going on in the city this year is that there has been a lot of tragedy. So we want to make sure kids know that there is hope, to have faith, and to hold on. Good things happen in the City of Savannah," said Mahogany Bowers, founder of Blessings in a Bookbag.
Wednesday, Blessings in a Bookbag will be giving away hundreds of toys again - this time in Savannah Gardens.
