Give pets a home for the holidays with the Humane Society of Greater Savannah

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Happening Wednesday, you can help the Humane Society of Greater Savannah find a home for the holidays for its pets.

From 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., everyone is welcome to drop by the shelter on Sallie Mood Drive and foster a dog or cat for the holiday. Short stays are welcome, but puppies must be returned no later than 5 p.m. next Tuesday, that's unless you decide to permanently keep your new houseguest.

"It's been a very successful program at Thanksgiving. We had eight animals go home for the holidays and five of them became permanent adoptions,” said HSGS Executive Director Lynn Gensamer.

If you're planning on heading to the Humane Society and already have a pet at home- you're encouraged to bring it with you to make sure it gets along with your new foster puppy or kitty.
