Dogs, cats given a 'Home for the Holidays'

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Shelter animals at the Humane Society for Greater Savannah finding "possible" furever homes Wednesday.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., people headed out to sign up to foster a puppy or kitty for Christmas. Some, eagerly waiting for the doors to open.

WTOC caught up with one new dog mom who looked online and knew exactly which pup she wanted.

"I recently graduated and I had some free time and I thought it would be a good opportunity to foster a dog for Christmas since the Humane Society has a Christmas fostering program. I'm not sure that I'll be able to take this one back home, I mean back here, but I wanted to do that and give a dog a special Christmas," said Haley McCain, fostering a dog for Christmas.

Short stays are welcome, but dogs must be returned by next Tuesday. Unless, of course, you decide to permanently keep your new house guest.
