SCMPD searching for two suspects, used stolen car in armed robbery

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are seeking information on a robbery at a store on the 3200 block of Montgomery Street, at about 9:54 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police responded to a call that a male suspect with a gun entered the store and demanded cash before fleeing the scene in a white Toyota Camry that was waiting outside.

A Metro officer spotted the car and followed it before the Camry struck a tree near O’Bryne Street and Atlanta Avenue. The driver eventually lost control of the vehicle near Dixon Lane.

The suspect and driver both fled on foot. K-9 units searched the area, but both suspects remain at large.

The vehicle was recovered and contained evidence linking it to the robbery. Investigators also learned that the vehicle was reported stolen on Monday.

The robbery suspect is described as a black male wearing a hooded camouflage jacket, a camouflage glove, grey jeans and black shoes. The suspect also wore a face covering during the crime. The getaway driver’s description is unknown.
