SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are investigating a fatal shooting near Reynolds and East 40th streets, which took place around 8 p.m. on Friday.
Police say the shooting claimed the life of 53-year-old Randy Hooks.
ShotSpotter picked up on the gunfire, and Metro responded. They found Hooks' body in a pickup truck. Investigation shows that the truck collided with two vehicles and a tree before it stopped on East 40th and East Broad streets. Police say Hooks was possibly shot and killed while he was driving.
An adult female occupant of one of the wrecked vehicles reported minor injuries at the scene, but she refused medical treatment.
Events leading up to the shooting remain under investigation, and detectives are working to identify suspects.
