SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - My message is very simple this week: Don't drink and drive and don't drive buzzed.
Once again this year, TV stations around the country, including WTOC, have joined together to support Project Roadblock in an effort to remind our viewers on-air and on-line to not drink and drive.
Since the inception of the project in 2004, we believe we have played a role in seeing on average a 40 percent decline in drunk driving deaths per day over the Christmas holiday season and a 28 percent decline per day over the New Year's holiday period.
Consider this: Your decision and plans related to drinking and driving begin when you leave your home or place of business. That is the time when you need to think of a designated driver and make a decision about drinking and driving.
But if you do find that you have had too much to drink, then call a cab, a friend or relative and let them take you home. Don't endanger your life, someone else's life or your livelihood, because you didn't take the time to think.
So be safe and always, always drink responsibly.
