A man sworn to uphold the law has now turned in his badge. This is former Vidalia police chief Darrell Collins in an interview three years ago. Last month, a police department employee filed a complaint against him causing city leaders to place him on paid administration leave while they investigated the case.
The city administrator would only describe it as inappropriate behavior between supervisors and employees.
Late Monday afternoon, Collins resigned.
We've tried to contact Chief Collins during the investigation and couldn't reach him.
The two captains who were in charge during his leave will keep those duties until the city council decides what to do.
