BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) - A familiar face behind the badge tells his community he's ready to retire.
Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson announced he won't seek re-election this summer. Anderson will finish his fourth term at the end of 2016.
He's worked 36 years with the department. He says he'll miss the teamwork of his department. He says the community has outgrown the small town it was when he started in the 1970's.
"When I started there were four deputies and Sheriff J. Paul Neville back in the 70s. You might have a call or two a week at night. Now, you have a call or two every few minutes at night," said Sheriff Anderson.
Qualifying for sheriff and other county offices opens in March.
