Christopher Hodges was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 13.
According to Savannah-Chatham Metro Police, Islands Precinct detectives and U.S. Postal Inspectors found methamphetamine, approximately 500 pieces of stolen mail, check books and parcels containing merchandise in Hodges' car.
Police said Hodges was initially identified as a person responsible for thefts from mailboxes in various Wilmington Island neighborhoods. Further investigation connected him to mail thefts on Savannah’s southside and the Berwick area near Ogeechee Road.
Hodges was under police surveillance at the time of his arrest. He is charged with possession of illegal drugs. Federal charges are pending for theft of mail.
