A trial date has been set in the case of a Fort Stewart soldier who refused to go back to Iraq. Sgt. Kevin Benderman's court-martial will begin May 12.
Benderman joined the Third Infantry Division in 2003. He filed for conscientious objector status a year later after a tour of duty in Iraq. He says he couldn't go back after everything he had seen there.
Benderman faces seven years in prison, a reduction in rank and a dishonorable discharge.
