City of Savannah accepting applications for Youth Ambassador Program

The City of Savannah is now accepting applications for the 2016 Savannah Youth Ambassador Summer Institute.

The program is open to all rising 9 -12 graders who live within the incorporated city limits of the city of Savannah. The program is free, and those that complete the summer institute will earn community service hours.

The Savannah Youth Ambassador encourages youth leadership and civic engagement.

"So, we are just hoping to light a spark, help give back, and help our young people find their way back to their communities and into their neighborhoods, and help them connect to their neighborhood leaders that are already there - any of whom are seasoned Savannah residents who have a lot to share in part, but our young people need to know that they have a welcome door that is open for them,” said Kerri Reid, Director, Community Planning and Development.

Last year, 37 students participated, and all of them completed the Youth Ambassadors Program. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 11, at 5 p.m.
