Metro investigating Liberty Street shooting that left 1 injured

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Violent Crimes Detectives with the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department are investigating after a shooting took place at Fred Wessels Homes, around 7:40 Monday night.

Police responded to the scene to find an 18-year-old suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. He was transported by ambulance to Memorial for treatment.

The victim was reportedly inside his E. Liberty Street apartment when he was struck by a bullet that was fired outside of the unit. A 24-year-old woman and a five-year-old child were also in the apartment during the incident.

Investigators are now searching for a gray Pontiac sedan. The Pontiac is believed to have fled east on Wheaton Street at a high rate of speed after the shooting. Detectives are asking the public’s help in identifying suspects.
