Georgia lawmakers agreed today on new US Congressional district lines. If the governor signs it and the US Justice Department signs off, candidates for Congress will run in these districts in 2006.
The plan keeps a split in Chatham County between the First and 12th Districts. The First spreads west to Valdosta and includes counties along I-75. The 12th still includes parts of Augusta and swings westward to Milledgeville, but does not include incumbent Rep. John Barrow's hometown of Athens.
