STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - A Georgia Southern University tradition will live on.
For more than 30 years, hundreds of children turned out each spring for ArtsFest. GSU said last month they could not continue the event by themselves because of the size and cost.
The Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department announced they'll take over the event, in partnership with the university.
Leaders say ArtsFest just meant too much to too many to let it end.
"If you've been in Bulloch or surrounding counties in the past 20 to 30 years, chances are you've involved yourself somehow with ArtsFest," said Recreation Department Director Mike Rollins.
Look for ArtFest April 23 in its usual location, GSU's Sweetheart Circle.
