The Charleston branch of the National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-1 tornado touched down on Fort Stewart on Wednesday evening.
The National Weather Service investigated the damage on Thursday and found damage consistent with an EF-1 tornado.
The preliminary survey results concluded that the tornado touched down at approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday with a path spanning 5 ½ miles with a 300 yard wide path, reaching wind speeds of 100 to 105 miles per hour.
No injuries were reported.
