JEFF DAVIS CO., GA (WTOC) - The storm that brought the tornado on Fort Stewart is continuing to dump rain across the region.
It washed out or flooded dirt roads in Jeff Davis and other counties, prompting schools to cancel or close early. The biggest concern is getting busses down those roads and the threat of getting students stranded or hurt.
"The rains cut ditches into the middle of some roads. Our busses would have been travelling them in the dark. For safety concerns, it would have been a bad situation," said Alvin Merrett, Jeff Davis Co. Schools.
Merritt hopes water levels can go down over the weekend and county crews can start repairs. WTOC will keep a very close eye on this for you and bring you the latest.
