YMCA of Coastal Georgia Turns 150

The YMCA of Coastal Georgia is 150 years old. They celebrated the group's history with a dinner at the Hilton Savannah Desoto last night. Eleven years after the founding of the Young Men's Christian Association in 1844, RB Hilton and 15 other men created the YMCA of Savannah, just the 13th YMCA in the United States.

"It's a great opportunity for the Y to say thanks to the community for support, thanks to volunteers and the staff who make this YMCA what it is today," said Randy Bugos, president YMCA of Coastal Georgia.

Many more activities will be happening at the Y's ten branches in and around Savannah.

Our own Sonny Dixon was the emcee of last night's event.
