A Long County woman now faces murder charges in her husband's death last year.
Investigators arrested Sherry Bailey last Friday after a grand jury indicted her in Otis "Rusty" Bailey's death.
This case started back in June when 911 got a call of a man shot at a hunting club near the Long County boat landing. When deputies got there, they found Otis Bailey dead of a gunshot wound.
Deputies began working the case along with GBI agents. Sheriff Craig Nobles said they never stopped working it.
Then last week, they took the evidence to a grand jury. They indicted Sherry Bailey in the case. Sheriff Nobles tells WTOC this was about getting the case right, not necessarily fast.
"Investigations can take months, sometimes years. All we can do is work the case as the evidence comes in,” said Long County Sheriff Craig Nobles.
Bailey faces felony murder, malice murder and aggravated assault charges and remains in jail.
