BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -

Being in the dog house never sounded so well, until now.

The Palmetto Animal League hosted its 2nd annual “Locked Up for Love” fundraiser Thursday afternoon.

Animal lovers traded places with the animals in the kennels for a unique photo opportunity to help raise money for homeless cats and dogs. Participants simply posted their picture behind kennel bars on social media encouraging people to post their bail or donations.

Every dollar raised up to $20,000 will be matched. Participants said the animals are only guilty of one thing.

"Even though we're the ones locked up, the animals are locked up all the time. And they're only guilty of one thing, breaking and entering. Breaking into our hearts and entering our homes,” said PAL Volunteer Cheryl Raugh.

Donations are being accepted until Sunday, which is Valentine's Day. Be sure to check in with WTOC to see how much money was raised when that final count is done.
