CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Valentine's Day is right around the corner and Thursday, we caught up with Savannah's ultimate Valentines.

The couple was serenaded at Summer Breeze Senior Living Community on Wilmington Island as they celebrate 72 years of marriage. After all of these years together, their friends say they are the perfect love story.

Lynette and J.B. Tuttle have been each other's Valentine for 72 years.

"Took me a little while to get her to begin with,” said J.B.

But once he did, it was true love. The couple got married in 1944.

"The war came along.  He was drafted and came home on a pass and we got married," said Lynette.

Thursday, the Four-Closure Quartet with the 13th Colony Sound in Savannah surprised the couple by serenading them.

"She seemed to recognize the ‘Only You’ song and she would've been singing that when she was 20, 30 years old," said Bob Kearns, 13th Colony Sound.

Many of their good friends from church came out to celebrate their marriage as well.

"It was terrific to have all of these friends go to all that trouble just to make me feel better," said Lynette.

J.B. shared his secret to a long and happy marriage.

"Number one secret.  Never go to bed mad."

Lynette says, she couldn't have ordered a better husband.

“He is tops.  I was so smart, so lucky to get that man because he thinks I'm so special and treats me so special."

The 13th Colony Sound really made this a special day for the Tuttle’s. The singing group is doing the same for couples across our area through the weekend.
