Indie Film Fest preview at Savannah State University

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Students previewed their works for the upcoming Indie Film Fest at Savannah State University.

The submission period is open and it's open to all faculty, staff and alumni.

Films can be submitted in these five categories: Music Video, Horror/Sci-fi, Comedy, Documentary and Drama.

WTOC caught up with one student and an alumna who are both competing.

"I was actually pretty young when I found out that I really wanted to go into film making. I had a pretty big imagination. My category is paranormal. I wanted like a sixth-sense of the human aspect, something like that,” said Aaron Johnson, senior at SSU.

"There are characteristics that are a part of black culture, black people that not too many people know about. That's what this film festival is about, is to showcase and highlight who we are, what we do on an everyday basis and how creative we are as young black professionals,” said Sylvia Alls, SSU alumna.

The submission period ends March 4th. The judging period lasts until March 25th.

Film selections are announced March 28th and the festival is April 13th and 14th.
