Did you hear the Good News this week?
Two local parents have been honored by the Georgia PTA with the Parent Leadership Award for positive contributions to student success. Anthony Macon doesn't just drop his children off at Thunderbolt Elementary, he sticks around and reads to all students. And Cassandra Robinson-Wint visits more than just her daughter at Beach High School. She says she treats all of Beach's 942 students as her family spends several hours a week volunteering at the school. She wishes all parents would do the same.
The good news from Beaufort and Jasper Counties is that the United Way of the Lowcountry is at 97 percent of goal. The United Way is a major contributor to improving education in South Carolina as well as making sure people have food, shelter and access to health care.
They could really use your help with that last 3 percent to make this good news, great news.
And finally, if 50 years of marriage is the golden anniversary, what is 72 years? That's what Lynette and J.B. Tuttle are trying to figure out. When they celebrated Valentine's Day last Sunday, it was their 72nd as husband and wife.
So what's their secret to nearly three quarters of a century of marital bliss? J.B. tells us it is simple, never go to bed mad.
