The Southern Regional Press Institute celebrated 65 years of educating Journalism and Mass Communications Students at Savannah State University.

Marking this day in history, the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications
College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences hosted its inaugural Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

Making up this group are founders of the program, educators including Dr. Charles Elmore, broadcast journalists who graduated from SSU and are now working around the country, as well as an award winning cartoonist, Mark Streeter.

“The 65th seemed like a good milestone, this is a natural outgrowth to look back at where we were.  They have been extraordinary in their giving to the institute,” said SRPI Regional Director Reginald Franklin.
