Local church leaders are speaking out on the Terri Schiavo situation. WTOC spoke with Bishop Kevin Boland from the Diocese of Savannah. He shared his thoughts on Schiavo's looming death and her parents' attempts to keep their daughter alive.
"Terri has lived in this state for 15 years," he said. "And it's extraordinary after 15 years we have come to the conclusion she should be allowed to die--and we use this phrase, which is a little disingenuous, 'permission to die.' Terri is not talking. Other people are talking for her. So we have to use objective principals as we study this."
In their new appeal to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, Bob and Mary Schindler argue their daughter's religious rights and due process are being violated.
